• INTERNATIONAL award winning photographer!

Ok, so a few months back, I entered one of my favorite photos into a competition held by The Artistic Guild of the Wedding Photojournalist Association (aka AGWPJA) of which I am a member. You have to be a member to enter the contests. The judges are accomplished photographers that have many years of experience.

Guess what. I won 4th place in the Getting Ready category with the image of Oanh getting ready! Some people are not big on these types of contests, but since I'm still new to them, I'm pretty happy with the outcome.

Here is the link to the AGWPJA contest on their website: Inku's award winning image

  • laura + james | engaged

I met up with Laura and James at Quay's in Hoboken before their engagement shoot. I love these guys. They are freaking cool. They were eating brunch, watching the Yankees game, having a couple martinis and mimosas. I had already eaten breakfast with Allison and Dan, my Washington DC couple, that had stopped into town. So, I wasn't hungry, but that Blue Moon was calling my name.Their wedding is going to be in June at The Imperia in Somerset, NJ. I shot there once last year and it's a really nice venue with excellent food and staff. We started the session off slowly just so Laura and James could get used to having their pictures taken and so I could gauge their comfort level with PDA (public displays of affection). No problems there! At one point I was done shooting and was like, "Um... I'm done shooting, but don't let that stop you." LOL!

  • anabella + renjit | the wedding

So... I feel like my last wedding is always my best. I guess that's a good thing because that means that my skills are improving. However, one of my biggest fears before the next wedding is, "How am I going to top the last wedding? It was so awesome!" That's actually how I felt today before Anabella and Renjit's wedding in Princeton. How the hellz would I be better than the last wedding that I shot?

As the day was moving along, I was just looking at some of the shots that I had taken and I just knew. I knew and I could NOT wait to get home to look through my images.

Anabella was looking absolutely beautiful and Renjit is a good looking dude. Their reception was held at The Palace at Somerset Park and it was a gorgeous location.

Ok, so I'm not going to bore you with my words. I want my pictures to do the talking for me. Enjoy!

  • seeing things differently : show me

So, one of my goals as a photographer is to see any given setting or situation differently. I’m going to show you two examples of two different locations. The images on the left are examples of what the location would normally look like to the naked eye. The images on the right are what you can make using your camera as a tool.

In this first picture, I simply posed Anabella and Renjit in the tunnel and wanted to show the cool pastel colors. (left image) You can see some of the shadows on the ground behind them which were used in the image on the right. The picture on the right is the same location, but I decided to use the shadows.

In this next picture, I took a picture of the groomsmen setting up the chuppah (left image) in the area where I put Michaela and Eric for the second image (right image). I used the direct sunlight coming in through the windows to create what I think is a very interesting portrait of the happy bride and groom.

I will try to do this more often in my blog as I think it is important for you to see not only the finished image, but what the location looks like and the thought process that is behind making photographs.

  • michaela + eric : the wedding

Ok, so I just finished up shooting Michaela and Eric's awesome wedding a few hours ago. I should really be sleeping, but I couldn't wait to post up some sneak peek images. They had their wedding at the very cool and very elegant Lounsbury House in Ridgefield, CT. Eric asked me if I would post some images tonight and I promised him 5 pictures. It was damn difficult choosing only 5.

They are just a super hot and super fun couple! They belong in a magazine. Congratulations again!

  • They're so hot, they're smokin'...

So… Michaela and Eric are engaged to get married in about a month. We shot their engagement session today – it was cold and blustery. I think they were nervous at first, but quickly settled into their roles for the next few hours – supermodels.

There are a few reasons why I insist on my couples shooting an engagement session:

    • Most people are not accustomed to being in front of a camera.
    • You are not accustomed to being in front of my camera.
    • After about 2 hours of shooting, you will be relaxed and know what to expect on your wedding day. <-- very important
    • I’d rather you get your photography jitters/concerns out of the way before your big day.

Michaela and Eric totally understood why I want all my clients to have e-sessions. They totally rocked the session and we got some smokin’ images.

  • shooting a wedding with [b]ecker

Ok, so I got home from Newport, RI a few hours ago and have been looking through and processing some images from the wedding I shot with [b]ecker yesterday. I don't even really know where to begin.

I shot alongside Leah Haydock, a fellow member of The [B] School.I never would have thought that I'd be able to learn so much from just hanging out with someone for a few hours and watching them work.

First, I was kind of nervous as I was putting tremendous pressure on myself to perform flawlessly. Within the first 5 minutes of meetin [b]ecker, he told us both to relax and have fun, no pressure. That took some of the pressure off, but let's face it... when you're shooting alongside someone who is as well-known and established as [b]ecker, you want to bring your 'A game'.

Kelley and Larry, the bride and groom, had their wedding at Saint Augustin's Church in Newport and the reception was held at Belle Mer. The bride, Kelley, was one of the dancers on the Lord of the Dance tour. Get this - the best man of the groom was Bill Burton the Deputy White House Press Secretary, whose wedding [b]ecker shot 2 years ago. On top of that, the wedding band had performed at Barack Obama's Inauguration Ball. How freaking awesome was this wedding?

Ok, enough of my rambling... on to the pictures!
