• They're so hot, they're smokin'...

So… Michaela and Eric are engaged to get married in about a month. We shot their engagement session today – it was cold and blustery. I think they were nervous at first, but quickly settled into their roles for the next few hours – supermodels.

There are a few reasons why I insist on my couples shooting an engagement session:

• Most people are not accustomed to being in front of a camera.
• You are not accustomed to being in front of my camera.
• After about 2 hours of shooting, you will be relaxed and know what to expect on your wedding day. <-- very important
• I’d rather you get your photography jitters/concerns out of the way before your big day.

Michaela and Eric totally understood why I want all my clients to have e-sessions. They totally rocked the session and we got some smokin’ images.

• shooting a wedding with [b]ecker

Ok, so I got home from Newport, RI a few hours ago and have been looking through and processing some images from the wedding I shot with [b]ecker yesterday. I don't even really know where to begin.

I shot alongside Leah Haydock, a fellow member of The [B] School.I never would have thought that I'd be able to learn so much from just hanging out with someone for a few hours and watching them work.

First, I was kind of nervous as I was putting tremendous pressure on myself to perform flawlessly. Within the first 5 minutes of meetin [b]ecker, he told us both to relax and have fun, no pressure. That took some of the pressure off, but let's face it... when you're shooting alongside someone who is as well-known and established as [b]ecker, you want to bring your 'A game'.

Kelley and Larry, the bride and groom, had their wedding at Saint Augustin's Church in Newport and the reception was held at Belle Mer. The bride, Kelley, was one of the dancers on the Lord of the Dance tour. Get this - the best man of the groom was Bill Burton the Deputy White House Press Secretary, whose wedding [b]ecker shot 2 years ago. On top of that, the wedding band had performed at Barack Obama's Inauguration Ball. How freaking awesome was this wedding?

Ok, enough of my rambling... on to the pictures!

• jenn + ryan | the wedding

Phew! I'm pretty tired. Just got home from Jenn and Ryan's wedding at the Neshanic Valley Golf Course and it rained the entire way home. The forecast called for heavy rains all day, but we lucked out - there was about a 2 hour lull between the ceremony and reception which gave us plenty of time to get some wicked awesome pictures. I had spoken to Jenn the night before and she had pretty much accepted that her wedding day was going to be a wash out, so she was pleasantly surprised when the rain held up for the photos.

Time to sleep. I have to meet a potential client tomorrow and then an engagement shoot, both in Manhattan.

As is the ritual, here are some of my favorite shots of the day...

• liz + andy : the wedding

Liz and Andy were married yesterday at The Florentine Gardens in River Vale, NJ. Coincidentally, that is where Jeannie and I also were married almost 3 years ago.

Liz and Andy looked awesome! Here is a sneaky peeky at some of their super cool wedding photos.

• jasmine + paul : anytime portrait

For her birthday, Jasmine asked her husband, Paul, for a photo session. They both got dressed up and had me take their pictures. This was only their second professional shoot (aside from their wedding). It was a different experience for them since their wedding photographer was primarily photojournalistic and didn't do any posing or directing. I, on the other hand, like to pose and direct because not everyone knows where the "good" light is and how to stand in it to maximize their good looking-ness.

• oanh + tim : wear + tear part deux

Ok, so as you loyal readers may know (because you've been reading all my posts up until now, right?), the lights at the Freedom Fountain on Princeton University's campus were not functioning last week when Oanh + Tim had originally scheduled their Wear + Tear session with me. So, we opted to wait a few days for the university to repair the lights.

However, Oanh went back on Sunday night to check if the lights were working - and they weren't! We went ahead with the shoot as planned on Monday evening, while I secretly hoped that the lights would be on by then, but they weren't. That's ok, though! We totally got some amazing shots without their stupid lights being on. Haha!

• oanh + tim : wear + tear

I photographed Oanh + Tim's wedding 2 weekends ago at The Imperia in Somerset and got some really amazing images. Yesterday, we had our "Wear + Tear" session in Princeton, NJ. We were going to end our session with a night shoot at the Fountain of Freedom. However, luck was not on our side as there were some issues on campus with the lighting in the fountain. I didn't want Oanh to unnecessarily get her wedding gown wet if I wasn't 100% sure we'd get some amazing shots - shots that I had visualized a few days ago after looking at pictures of the fountain. We did manage to get some shots by Robertson Hall which is right next to the fountain.

They wore it, then tore it...up! :D
